He was born in 1852 in Reus, Spain. He was a famous architect of the Spanish Art Nouveau movement, though his creative work transcends merely labelling him as such. With curved lines and surrealistic designs, his projects gained widespread attention. Most of his edifices stand in or around Barcelona, Spain. Some of his major works include: Casa Batllo, Casa Mila, Colonia Guell, and La Sagrada Familia. La Sagrada Familia is a work in progress. The temple's construction began in 1882 and was under Gaudi's watch until he died in a car accident in 1926. Since then, it has been worked on by various architects and workers and is projected to be completed in anywhere from 20 to 50 years, or more.
