The Poem
The waves crashed down on the beach.
Despite being perched atop the bluffs,
she found the sound
so intense that it offered the illusion
of water splashing against her exposed skin.
The seagulls, with their a-la Prufrock rolled trousers,
were
nervously
marching
along the shore.
A turtle, scared,
drew back into his shell
and rolled into the water.
She wandered down from the bluffs to the shore.
As the water washed over her small,
delicate feet,
she looked into the distance
and wondered how everything would work out.
shouting at once
pierced through her thoughts
as a bomb blasted down
through the shallow waters of the shore.
The intensity of the white light
knocked her off her feet
as she slipped into another universe.
Cosmic Drift.
Dripping Cognition.
She turned on. She tuned in. She dropped out.
Holla.
