Biography
Decidedly it will never have been given to me to finish anything, except perhaps breathing. One must not be greedy. - Samuel Beckett -
Alex Barkett is a junior English major at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He originally hails from Sacramento, California, where he was raised until moving south, to college. His central interests in the field of literature include Irish and Russian literature, electronic and new media texts, literary theory in the digital age, and creative poetry and prose. He is also interested in studying philosophy and linguistics before graduating. Outside the study of literature, he loves and admires the works of Akira Kurosawa, Wassily Kandinsky, and Radiohead, to name a few. He aspires to be a university professor, public intellectual, professional writer, film director, and sit on the supreme court, although not necessarily all at the same time.
On English 194: "This class provides a deliciously fresh, interactive portal to online publishing and the overall future of literature and literary studies as the internet gradually becomes the new medium for expression and education. Wikipedia and the wiki software are uniting ambitious people from around the world and exhibiting their collaborative efforts, with a much-needed, practical, idealistic philosophy that the culture of information is infinite, free, and something to be embraced."
For this website Alex Barkett has written Electronic Literature and the Author/Reader Paradox and Minus the Bull or How A Little French Sewing Circle Dodges the Minotaur.

Deleted the "Michel Foucault" object page, which I originally wrote, because the same page also exists as "Foucault, Michel" which includes the same text but with an added (and creepy) picture. I am not sure how the picture got there and how there got to be two objects on there, but I just deleted the "Category:Objects" tag for "Michel Foucault". So the page still exists but it will not show up on the objects list anymore.
