Taylor Whitmer

"Take what you have and run with it." - Anonymous -

Taylor was born in San Francisco and raised in Redwood City, California. She is a third year, double major in Communication and English (with the LCI specialization), and simultaneously, she is working to complete the Leadership Certificate Program. She is particularly involved with her sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta, and she has held two positions: Activities Chair and Vice President of Administration. In addition to her involvement within her own sorority, she has held the position of Vice President of Recruitment on Panhellenic, the national sorority council. Over the past year, she has loved working as a writing tutor at CLAS (Campus Learning Assistance Services) and will continue this job through her senior year. This spring, she has had an internship at Davies Communications in downtown Santa Barbara, and this summer, she looks forward to interning at Blanc & Otus in San Francisco. After graduating, she is eager to get her MBA, and then one day, enter the field of public relations or event planning. She enjoys her family, friends, and working hard. As for the arts, Georgia O'Keefe, Picasso, Joyce, Van Gogh, and Eliot are among her favorites, as well as contemporary hip-hop, rock, rap, and even (to some of her classmates dismay) country music.

On English 194: "UCSB's English specialization, LCI (Literature and Cultures of Information), has been an exciting way for me to better understand the 'information revolution'. English 194, especially, has been an incredible way to use new forms of media and to apply it for everyday use. The wiki environment is a hands-on setting that allows every student to understand collaboration."

For this website, Taylor has written Knowledge economy to creativity economy and Fortune Smiles on the Disciplined Innovator.
