Biography

Kaitlin Hulsy
"Out of the ash, I rise with my red hair. And I eat men like air" --Sylvia Plath

Kaitlin is a third-year transfer English major hailing from Bakersfield, California. She holds the honor of having multiple poetry, fiction, and opinion pieces submitted to a now-defunct underground newspaper, "The Blackboard Free Press". Additionally, she has contributed to the Daily Nexus, most recently in an opinion piece regarding the war in Iraq, and subsequent protests. Kaitlin is pondering the possibility of earning a specialization in Early Modern Literature, and if all goes swimmingly, will be graduating in the Spring of 2008. When not hitting the books, Kaitlin is an active member of the UCSB College Republicans. Prior to transfer, she held the position of chair in Bakersfield, California. Highlights included organizing a carwash that raised over six thousand dollars intended for care packages for troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Future goals include the possibility of contributing to whatever magazine will take her, along with pursuing law. However, only time will tell.

Inspired by her next-door neighbor:

Pamelyn Pettis planted her roots in the complex with chit-chat and toxins and tie-dye, romancing the Marlboro man making love against his leathery weather-beaten denim exterior while the bees gossip in the corner. Pamelyn Pettis braless and beckoning black caterpillar arches never questioning, journey to Dakotas leaving your vitamins and a chunk of pumping red muscle made concrete on my mantle with your memory.
